
About
Dr Catherine Hibberd is an Australian trained Orthopaedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in hip and knee arthroplasty. Her practice also includes paediatric and adult general trauma.

Dr Hibberd completed her undergraduate medical degree at the University of Melbourne in 2008, and worked as a junior doctor in Melbourne before moving to Sydney to complete Orthopaedic training. She was awarded Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and Australian Orthopaedic Association in January 2021.
Immediately post training Dr Hibberd was employed as a consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at St George Hospital (Level 1 Trauma Centre) as well as being responsible for general orthopaedic trauma at Sutherland Hospital.
Dr Hibberd then went on to complete a clinical fellowship in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty & Lower Extremity Reconstruction at St Michael’s Hospital, Toronto. This position is part of the University of Toronto’s Division of Orthopaedic Surgery Fellowship program, and during her year there she gained skills in primary, complex primary and revision arthroplasty surgery.

Dr Hibberd is passionate about teaching, and is currently completing a Master of Surgical Education through the University of Melbourne. In particular she takes an active role in supervision and teaching of trainees in the AOA21 training program.
Dr Hibberd completed a Master of Surgery (by research) in Orthopaedic Surgery through the University of Melbourne, being awarded First Class Honours. She has a number of first author publications and has presented research at both National and International Scientific Meetings.

Dr Hibberd is a keen athlete and competed at state level Track & Field Athletics for over 20 years. She was also competitive in Equestrian events in the Victorian Show Horse and Dressage Championships and the Royal Melbourne, Canberra and Sydney Easter Shows. Over the past 10 years she has sought more adventurous pursuits in mountaineering, climbing in regions of New Zealand, South America, Russia, Alaska and Nepal, including some well known high altitude peaks; Aconcagua, Denali and Ama Dablam.
